Super easy microwave caramels

Bail on your New Year resolution to eat healthier and make these.

Trust me when I say if you make nothing else found on this blog, try this recipe.

I recently pinned this, which reminded me of a recipe I've had clipped out of a magazine for years.

The recipes are basically the same, mine just calls for 5 tbsp. of butter, which is about 1/3 cup.  I'm sure both are equally delish.

You'll need:

5 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. light corn syrup
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk

Put all ingredients into a microwave safe bowl.

Microwave for 6 minutes, stirring every 2.

Spray an 8x8 glass dish with Pam, and pour mixture in.

Let cool and cut.  (I cheat and put them in the fridge to cool, but if they're in there too long they get too hard to cut.)

Wrap in wax paper.

Store in a container with a lock, or you might just eat them all. ;)

  1. I can taste these in my're messing with my health plans big time!

  2. any idea on a shelf life for these? not that i wouldn't eat them all...but just curious :)

  3. Kim...I would guess a week or so if they're in a candy dish, maybe longer in a jar or airtight container. We eat them too fast to find out!

  4. These look like my grandma's caramels. Can't wait to try them. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Just became a follower! :) These look great & my husband LOVES caramels! Will definitely give this a try one day! Would love for you to check out my blog @

  6. I will HAVE to try this!!! I love caramel!!! I have a project party every weekend if you want to join here..
    Have a great day!

  7. Do these really work in the microwave? Are they always done in 6 minutes or is there a way to test them? I have always cooked my caramel on the stove, but would LOVE to try a microwave version!

  8. To.
Serioulsy, I was a bit skeptical about the 6 minutes, seemed too easy to be true. I tried it and love them! This will be my go-to treat for guests and hostesses from now on...thanks Cheryl!!

  9. Do they make 4 oz cans of sweetened condensed milk or did you mean an normal size 14 oz can?

  10. WOW! I just made these. Six minutes. That's all! I knew they'd be good when I licked the spoon after pouring them in the baking dish after cooking them! So easy, and delicious! I'm gonna make more for my daughter and her family tomorrow.

  11. Tried this, was really good. Would suggest making them in a ice cube tray made them the perfect shape :)

  12. so i want to make these but all I have is plastic wrap. Could I use that instead of the wax papper

  13. Made these last night and they were amazing! Please note that after 6-7 minutes in the microwave, they looked ruined and grainy but I poured them anyway and they were perfect after being in the fridge 2 hours. But I almost tossed. If you see the same when you're making, you may want to mention that in your recipe. I also added sea salt on top which was really delish. Thanks for sharing!!!!

    1. I'm glad they turned out okay and you enjoyed them!!

I've never seen much graininess...maybe they just needed a bit more stirring at each 2 minute interval?
