Vintage linens as curtains

I've been having the best luck finding vintage linens lately, so I've been scooping up all that I can get my hands on.

Usually I envision turning them into linings of tote bags or making them into aprons, but today I thought I'd try something new...using them to dress up my curtains.

I have several sets of IKEA Wilma sheer curtains throughout our home.  I love how they look, so light and airy.  (The $10 price tag doesn't hurt, either.)  All I did was cut a wide strip of a pretty floral duvet and then sewed it to the bottom of the curtains.  Instant vintage style!

  1. I think they make great looking curtains with a soft ethereal look to them. My problem is that I have to have lined curtains to help insulate from cold in the winter and heat in the summer. I suppose a person could line them though. :-)

  4. Goodness, the weekend wrap up at T&J has the best links today. How beautiful these curtains have turned out. Love the idea of reusing delicate fabric like that. You should post this to Ikea Hacker - they show great reworks of Ikea items.
Oh, and I'd be thrilled if you added it to my linking party... http://craft-werk.blogspot.com/2010/03/star-on-saturday.html

And wow, I have to say that using linens as curtains is such a great idea! Its like recycling too! And one of the best parts is that there are SO many different patterns your could use!
