Mossy monogram wreath

The other day I made my first trip to Hobby Lobby.  Ever.  Can you believe it?

Among (many, many) other things, I came home with these goodies to make a mossy monogram wreath.  I've always loved moss wreaths, and a monogram project or two, so this makes the perfect addition to our front door.

(And I realize this project may be a little Christmas-y, but I still love it!)

So here's what I did...

First, I sprayed my letter green, in case any happened to peek through the moss.

Then I fired up the ol' glue gun and started attaching clumps of the moss until it was full.

To attach the ribbon, I glued it in place on the back.

Then I looped it around.

And then once more so it would hang flat.

Then I glue gunned (is that even a term?) it to the top of my door.  This project was so easy, and I love that it is a decoration that I can use no matter the season.  The black and white gingham (which I actually did not buy to be festive for Halloween) can easily be changed.  I can see a thick, red or green satin ribbon for Christmas and a pink grosgrain polka dot one for Valentine's.  I love it when I can re-use decorations!

ps. Don't forget to check out DIY Day for more great ideas!

  12. Ooh, I really like this, but what do you do if your letter doesn't have a convenient place for the ribbon? I'm an "L," so do I need to attach a hook or something?

  17. Okay, this is the best! As a matter of fact I have been up in northern Minnesota this week and have harvested tons of moss from my Mom's woods. Now I have something to use my moss for. I have so much I could probably do the whole alphabet, ha, ha!!!!
