Ribbon organization cards

After my sewing frenzy last night (I promise to share the finished products soon!), I realized how badly I need to organize my craft supplies. I am so happy I now have ribbon drawers that look like this.

I confessed my compulsion to buy ribbon the other day. I think I must just like to have it piled up to admire. Is there a problem with that??

This is so frustrating to look at.

I can't believe I've now shown that disaster more than once. Ugh. What a mess. Anywho, I know there are lots of ribbon organizational systems out there. Like Martha's dispenser box or this pretty jar full of clothespins or this contraption, but I wanted free and easy.

What I did was take a plain old shirt box.

Cut it into 2" x 5" strips.

I taped one end of the ribbon to the box and started wrapping away. Then I taped the other end. What a huge improvement!

And don't forget to stop by Kimba's for lots of good ideas at DIY Thursday!

This is a perfect idea, and it doesn't take up nearly all the room that those big spools do, and it's so organized. I need to do this, thanks!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by! I just did the ribbon thing with clothes pins the other day. It's nice to have them organized and looking cute at the same time. I like what you did 'cause it was FREE and looks cute! Hey- I noticed on your profile that you like Tom Petty too...you ARE a Cool mom! I just may have to put your button on my blog!

OMG, I remember when my ribbon stash was a mess just like that. I did the old clothes pin thing and placed them in a pretty jar on my craft table. So much nicer to look at now. I like your idea too, especially for thicker ribbon.

Stopping by from the SITS Saturday Sharefest ... your name caught my eye because I TOTALLY need a cool friend Cheryl. :)

I'm so jealous of your mad crafting skills - I wouldn't know where to begin! All your stuff looks awesome, and I wish I were half that inventive!

I would have never thought of that, those boxes would have been in the garbage so quick it would have made your head spin. Thanks for stopping by my blog today, hope to hear more from you soon.

Would you like to come organize my house?

I so admire organization, but the gene is missing from my DNA.

Just dropping by from SITS to say hi; hope you'll do the same.

What a great idea!
At the moment my ribbon supply looks like your original stocked mess. I stuff my ribbon into one of those rubbermaid bins. I know I have old gift boxes....I shall tidy up my ribbon too. Thanks! :-)
Just popping in from SITS....

Hope your day today is beautiful

I LOVE it!!! What a great tip! I've tried everything to 'show off' my ribbon, but let's just face it -- too many rolls! I'm doing this for sure!
